Mortalkind: On Death’s Door

The gods are all-knowing. The gods are perfect. The gods are in trouble.
At least one god is. ‘Former god,’ if you’re the sort to get hung up on the little details. Farrin, once God of Air, circus strongman, and flying-machine-filcher, is very good at making enemies. Volk, the King of the Gods, for one. Marxene, for another, baroness of a criminal empire.
And now Death. Just Death. Clutched in his bony fist is a list of the soon-to-be-departed, with Farrin’s name at the very top. Farrin would very much like to postpone that appointment.
With the help of Mara Marigold and Gristle the goblin, Farrin races the span of worlds to outpace the Grim Reaper. The gorebears, magical contracts, bloodthirsty criminals, and pantheons of peeved-off gods are not helping matters. Can Farrin possibly escape his predestined end?
Death doubts it. Farrin would rather agree to disagree.

The gods are all-knowing. The gods are immortal. The gods are perfect.

Are there any gods still listening? No? Good. Now we can get to the real story.

With the help of two uppity mortals, Farrin prepares to pull off the boldest criminal venture this side of the afterlife—robbing the very gods who cast him out. The payday of a thousand lifetimes is waiting for him. But should he fail, Farrin knows better than anyone what ‘the wrath of the gods’ truly means.

ABOUT US!

About the Author

Alexander Harrington

Alexander Harrington graduated from the University of Utah to work as a journalist, in the hopes of one day meeting the legendary J. Jonah Jameson. Eventually Alexander discovered that J.J.J. was not only legendary, but, unfortunately, fictional as well. But it worked out okay – Alexander always wondered why he was reporting on existing stories when he could be making up his own, anyway.

Alexander lives with his wonderful mother and okay father (kidding, Dad, you’re wonderful, too.) in Salt Lake City, writing the live long day away. When he isn’t skulking around corners, rattling Monopoly boards at anyone foolish enough to come near, he spends his free time playing mahjong, Mario Kart, and Dungeons and Dragons. A fantasy lover by heart, Alexander’s brain is cluttered with a million stories that he can’t wait to get down on paper, so he can one day enjoy a little peace and quiet up there.

Are there any gods still listening? No? Good. Now we can get to the real story.

Farrin, former God of Air, is banished from the heavenly realm of Voltarim and forced to live amongst the lowly mortals. Instead of glittering golden temples, he’s sleeping in barns, while performing nightly as a strongman in a dingy, two-bit circus. Five years later and Farrin’s still none too happy with the arrangement.

What can he do? Buckle down, work hard, and earn an honest living?

That’s for mortals. He has a much better idea: break back into Voltarim and rob the gods of all their unworldly possessions. A heist of heaven, itself.

Spiral Loop

Immortality – a shield against death, itself.

For orphaned thief Vix, living each brutal day in fear that it might be her last, there could be no greater gift in all the world. But of course there is no such thing. Nobody is immortal.

Then Vix meets Caine, a man whom she sees murdered before her eyes – on two different days. He cannot seem to stay dead. Desperate to understand his secrets, Vix allies herself with the downcast immortal.

Forces beyond Vix’s understanding churn to life. The Riverman, a terrifying, immortal assassin, stalks her footsteps, stopping at nothing to permanently end Caine’s unnatural life. Vix finds herself in the assassin’s sights as well, but she cannot back down. For a chance at immortality, she would risk everything.

But as the darkness closes in around her, Vix begins to wonder: Is what she seeks a blessing? Or a curse?

Crown Seeker

For centuries, the people of Calamere have been without their ruler: the One Sovereign, prophesized to bring everlasting peace and happiness to all in the realm. An order of warriors known as the Crownseekers was established to seek out the One Sovereign and destroy any Tyrants who would lay false claim to the title.

After years of struggle, farm boy Oliver Trimble joins the Crownseekers. Standing now high above his former station, he finds himself the envy of every starry-eyed dreamer in the land. But from the midst of childhood dreams he awakens into his worst nightmare.

On the field of battle, he rescues a girl called Vamira Gala. Every prophecy seems to agree that she is to be the One Sovereign. But the Crownseekers disagree. They name her a Tyrant and command Oliver to see her dead.

Dealing with demons and betrayers, straying further from misty legend and into harsh reality, Oliver must choose between two halves of himself. Duty and honor? Or friendship and faith? The weight of all Calamere rests heavy on his shoulders.

Ryder Hunte ClancyAward-Winning Author of Bestseller “Mystic Invisible.”
“The characterization and world building alone are incredible — even side characters… were beautifully created. Throw in a few snarky MCs caught between a rock and a Baroness, and it’s golden. If you like fantasy, heists, broken characters, and sarcasm galore, I highly recommend this book. And if you don’t, I still recommend it.”
TaylorReader
“One of the best fantasy novels I have ever read.”

“A rip-roaring adventure from page one! This story feels like Ocean’s Eleven meets Dungeons and Dragons. If you’ve been looking for a fantasy adventure that is pure fun with great characters (who aren’t teenagers in school), enjoyable action, and unique set pieces, this is it.”
